Hotel Barge "Wine & Water"
A 30 metre by 5 metre hotel barge for 6 passengers & 2 crew members.
(Captain Max, 30 years of barging experience on the inland waterways of Europe!)
Season : May - October 2012

Full board includes all three meals.
Flexible on arrival dates but must be for 4 nights, the charter of "Wine & Water" commences at 16:00hrs and finishes at 10:00hrs on the last day.

Cruise starts at 45kms West of Dijon and 30kms North of Beaune starting from the small village Vandenesse en Auxois near Chateauneuf en Auxois, direction DIJON, cruising through the beautiful Vallée d'Ouche. This part of the Burgundy Canal is the most sceanic of all the French canal routes with nearby villages & small towns, restaurants and not far the famous Burgundian vineyards the Côtes de Nuits & Côtes de Beaune.
Please note depending on the schedule these cruises may be in the reverse direction.
First night: Welcome drinks on board the barge and later evening meal on board.
Day 1 & second night: Cruise and if wished late afternoon visit to a nearby place of interest. 2nd night: early evening the Captain will reserve you a nearby restaurant!
Day 2 & thrid night: Full days "Wine, Historical & Discovery tour"with Max in his air-conditonned mini-van, lunch is reserved in a typical Burgundian restaurant in a famous wine village on the outskirts of Beaune (this is included in the price of the cruise) 3rd night: evening meal on board.
Day 3 & 4th night: Cruise and if wished late afternoon visit to a place of interest, early evening the Captain will reserve you a nearby restaurant!
The following morning after breakfast the Captain will drive you to either the Dijon or Beaune train station.
- You and your party book (charter) the entire hotel bareg (Wine & Water). No other bookings will be taken for the period of your cruise.

Reservations require a deposit of 30% of the price. Balance of payment (70%) is due 65 days prior to arrival dates on board

(Reservation Cancellation Fees) - If for any reason «Wine & Water» is unavailable for the dates reserved a full and immediate refund will be made. Guests will have no further claim against the owner.
- For the charter we provide double cabins (either Queen size double bed or twin single beds) with en quite luxe bathrooms, toilet, shower and washbasin equipped with bed linen and towels and hairdryers.
- Breakfast and lunches are included on all days together with soft drinks and local wines as well as the eveing meals, 2 aboard the hotel barge «Wine & Water» and the 2 remaining evening meals will be reserved in nearby local restaurants.
- We provide use of the ships' bicycles, library, DVD, music centre & lap top.
- Air or ground transportation to and from the boat are not included in the charter price however we will contact you prior to arrival and arrange to pick you up from a nearby train station or airport.
- Unforeseen circumstances such as weather, canal closures and maintenance may necessitate alterations to our cruise route. Such changes are rare but we reserve the right to alter a route if circumstances dictate.
- Insurance against cancellation, personal accident or loss of personal belongings is not included in the charter price and we strongly advise guests to obtain travel insurance to cover the above events.
- For the safety and comfort of all, smoking is not allowed on «Wine & Water»
- Payment of a deposit to secure the charter of «Wine & Water» constitutes acceptance of these booking conditions by all members of the charter group.

Running through my computer I came across your address and realised that I had never let myself be heard since we left the Niagara and you. Which is not good since we had one of the best holidays of our lives with Max on the Niagara and it is just decent and proper to let yourself be heard afterwards – not so ? So, this is just to say once more, to you, that we enjoyed every moment on the barge : your hospitality, the set-up on the barge,the availability of snacks and drinks, the cruise as such, your choice of restaurants on land and above all.

Every now and then the screen saver pops up with one of our trip pictures. This morning was Max with three lattes in their cups and saucers ready to go up on a tray. Not being a real photographer I missed what his hands were doing, but still, there he was, smiling in the galley. A nice memory. You could not have made our anniversary week one bit better; it was just perfect in every way and probably once a week I get yet another pleasant reminder and get to wondering how we could do it again.
