Downstream form in the Valley Ouche, the barge begins to line-up to enter the lock. In the background you can see the hills covered with oak and beech trees. The lock-keeper is stading by the lock in the shade and waiting for the boat. |
The lock is almost full and the barge is preparing to leave lock number 25 near the Abbey of la Bussiere, the canal turns to the right and there is an excellent shaded tow-path, ideal for walking and cycling.
Entering lock number 21, near the village of Pont d'Ouche, the water is cascading over the upstream lock doors, the captain stops the barge in the lock and the helps the lock keeper with the doors and sluice gates. |
