My girlfriend and I were in Beaune (the heart of Burgundy) this summer 2010. I am so pleased that I hired Max (www.dijon-rentahome.com/wine-tours.html) of dijon-rentahome.com for a private wine tour.
Max picked us up at our hotel. We went to several wineries, toured wine caves, drove through the vineyards, stopped to look at and touch the grapes, we went to a locals restaurant for lunch where we had the most amazing Coq au Vin in the world, drove throughout the countryside, visited a castle, leanred its history, saw gourgeous vistas of the area, and also got a unique insight to the canal system and canal barge tours (also operated by Max and his wife Beatrice Renau - this will be our next amazing vacation). Max's touring mini-bus/van is larger enough to accommodate a large or small group (we were only two for our tour.) The lunch is not covered in the tour price. Expect to spend about 20-25 Euro/person for this. However, I had no problem with this as other tour would have fed us a mundane, obligatory, mass prepared meal. Here, we got to try something truly wonderful and unforgetable in a special restaurant (the secret, the restaurant makes its Coq au Vin with the wine sediment from the wines it makes for itself - the flavor is rich and intense). In our case, Max had previously purchased some wine for us to try that was not available for tasting at a winery. He contributed this to our meal (and it was excellent).
I investigated other wine tour operators online. Being from Santa Barbara, CA wine country and very well-acquainted with the northern CA wine regions too, we did not want a tour where we felt like cattle or school children, shuttled to see a film on winemaking in the region and then to touristy, mega-wineries. We got exactly what we wanted with Max, a very passionate tour guide, who was therefore very knowledgeable, who showed us the best and most unique of the region, He was only slightly more expensive that some of the mass produced tours but we got so much more than we ever expected.
Were it not for Max, we would have never seen a fraction of the Burgundy countyrside, learned as much as we did about the region, and experienced as much of the local vibe. Max is a wonderful tour guide. He is known wherever he goes..

etaient super contentes de votre tour et elles ont dit que c'etait juste
excellent et la partie preferee de leurs vacances a Dijon.

Dear Max
Thank you for your interesting wine tour and your kindness.

Now our "eyes" for wines are a little changed.

Yesterday we finally came back to Japan. The weather in Japan is strange these
days. It's so hot, and the humidity is so high.
I am sure that I will go to Europa again, probably to study or to work.
When I find time to come to Dijon, I will call you and will stay in your flat.

We had a wonderful day yesterday with Max... our friends were wowed. They would love to meet you, and we would love for you to meet them. They love the apartment. Tomorrow we are going to Beaune on the train. Could you meet us for lunch or a glass of wine on Thursday sometime?

It doesn't seem possible that two years have flown by. We left Dijon
with all good intention to send a testimonial to how much we enjoyed
our tour with Max. I suppose this is better late than never. I can't
imagine what Max could have done to make the tour better. Perhaps
even more important was how delightful he was to be around and how
his great depth of knowledge let him do such a masterful job if fitting
the information he provided so well into our level of interest and
understanding.

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely apartment with us. The luxury and extra touches (coffe, wine etc) made our stay in DIJON. We also appreciated all the recommendations for things to do & restaurants. When we get back, I will be happy to write a great review, as I really don't think the pictures on the website do enough!, I certainly was so pleasently surprised!

The wine tour with Max on June 8, 2008 was the highlight of our trip to France.
Max was courteous and charming. We are hoping for a future return trip to rent
your apartment.

We loved Max. We loved Max. What a wonderful day. Max is charming, thoughtful, energetic, funny, and just one of the nicest people you would meet anywhere in the world. There were 8 of us and Max made an effort to form a bond with each one of us and make each one of us feel special. He was concerned about our every movement and even walked us directly to the train platform. He stopped whenever we wanted "photo ops" . Lunch was exquisite.
We will be back to see Max and next time we want to meet the loverly Beatrice. Next time we will stay in Burgundy or perhaps have Max and you find a boat that we can rent anf just float for a week. It was a great day, one of our best in France and you may use this quote. Many thanks.

I took a day tour with your company in Sept. last year. I was very
impressed with your tour and will use you again next trip. I book
US wine tours and noticed that a lot of Burgundy wine tours are using
localwineevents.com to advertise trips to the Burgundy region on their
site in multiple US cities. I use this site and have good response.
Since it is free I thought I would pass it along to you. It would
be a great way to spread the word about your apartments and packages.
Also I'm building my own site and would like to add you as a link
if you don't mind! I'm still dreaming about the coq au vin lunch I

Dear Beatrice, Edinburgh We had a lovely time in Dijon and so appreciated
the comfort of the apartment. Our day spent with Max was hugely enjoyable
